March 3, 2010, 7:35 am State Brackets Announced The CIAC announced its boys basketball state tournament brackets today. Click on the link below to see the matchups.

For the second straight season, the boys and girls state finals will take place at Mohegan Sun.

League tournaments finish up this week with the CCC and FCIAC highlighting the Thursday scoreboard. North Haven won the SCC last night.

March 3, 2010, 7:29 am Bloomfield to play Northwest The CCC title game will take place between Bloomfield and Northwest Catholic on Thursday. Bloomfield defeated Windsor on Tuesday in a tightly played game, just after Northwest outscored New Britain in the other semifinal.

The CCC is by far the deepest conference in the state this year, with no less than 8 teams with legitimate state championship aspirations.

March 3, 2010, 5:38 am Shocker North Haven shocked Hillhouse 41-34 to win the 2010 SCC Tournament before 1,200 fans at Quinnipiac University's TD Bank Sports Center.

North Haven has been one of the states best kept secrets this season, winners of 12 straight games. The CIAC state playoff brackets will be announced today, look for North Haven's bracket here.

January 11, 2010, 6:05 am Winter Hoops Underway The winter 2010 schedule is underway, and already a number of highly ranked teams have been knocked out of the top 10 in Connecticut. Trinity Catholic, a mainstay in the state top 10 poll already has 4 losses, and 2009 Class L champ and preseason top 5 team Bulkeley of Hartford has started the season 0-5 after a loss to Middletown (above).

March 25, 2009, 3:04 pm Sun Shines on CIAC While reactions were mixed heading into the CIAC state finals for boys and girls basketball, our final take was that Mohegan Sun easily provided the best atmosphere of all previous championship venues.

Setting aside all concerns, positives and negatives, of the games being played at a gaming resort, from a basketball sense the Arena easily has the best amenities for fans who make it a day long event.

From a media standpoint, this is a professional arena with top notch staff who made the day more enjoyable than ever.

Kudos to the CIAC for taking a gamble, while they may not have achieved a full house, it certainly was a hand worth holding for years to come.
